When returning from the first crusade, a little bit of earth fron Palestine was spread out on the highest point of the village. On this place, was erected the church in the eleventh century, called Sancta Terra ( to-day it is classified as a historical monument ). It is the church that gave its name to the village, located on one of the roads to Santiago de Compostela. |

Village of fishermen, one fishery already existed in the fifteenth century at Lavagnac. Still today professional fishermen continue this activity fishing migrant fish (lamprey, shad, eel and elvers ). | |||||||||||
